WOLF & SWAN is a modern dance company based in New York City. We tell stories. Movement is our language, understood all over the world. In harmony with music, we touch and express emotions in which all people can feel seen and heard.
We celebrate the magic of beauty and compassion to bridge divides together with our audiences and bring humanity into the world.
OUR PLANS For 2023/2024
NEW SHOWS:
We are delighted to present a full-length stage production of DRAGONBLOOD,
a feminist retelling of the famed Nibelungenlied epic and a legendary reflection on moral responsibility rooted in Norse myth.
We´re also looking forward to premiere of NEAR DISTANCE,
a humorous ballet consisting of five short stories that tell of life in virtual worlds, and the impact of social media on social behavior and our daily lives. The piece will be presented in collaboration with video and design artists.
NEW MOVIES:
Following the acclaimed debut of BRAVE STEPS at Braga International Video Dance Festivals (Portugal), WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, Manifest Dance-Film Festival (India) and Exeter Dance International Festival (UK), we´re proud to present two new short dance movies:
BIRD SONG IN SILENCE and AN OCEAN AWAY.
These will be premiered as part of our ongoing effort to share our love of movement with a wider global audience so people around the world can enjoy the dance of WOLF & SWAN.

THE TEAM
MEET THE FOUNDER
I am Wilma Casal,
dancer, choreographer, and the founding director of both WOLF & SWAN Company and The Common Blue DANCE Studio.
In my search for the origins of social and emotional discrepancies, I’ve crafted works that engage themes of ancestry, dignity, and responsibility. My movement vocabulary is grounded in the Martha Graham technique, celebrating the grace, beauty, and clarity of human motion.
My pieces have been presented at Baruch Performing Arts Center, La MaMA Experimental Theatre Club’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, Williamsburg Movement & Arts Center, Dixon Place, The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Hudson Guild Theater, Theater 71 at Blessed Sacrament, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, as well as at the House of Russian Culture and Haus Schwarzenberg in Berlin, Braga International Video Dance Festival, Manifest Dance Film Festival and Houston International Film Festival.
